Welcome to Mark Shapp's Personal Page
Have you ever wanted to tell me to go jump in a lake? Well, now is your chance!
On Saturday, February 16, 2019, for the fourteenth year in a row, I will don my penguin uniform and plunge into ICY Sebago Lake as a participant in the MCCP Polar Dip, an event to benefit the Maine Children's Cancer Program. MCCP is the region’s only comprehensive treatment center for children fighting cancer and blood disorders, and children from all across Maine receive treatment there. MCCP helps children through their journey by providing world-class care as well as psychosocial support for both patients and their families.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation on behalf of my icy plunge! 100% of funds raised for MCCP stay local, and directly support the three components of MCCP: world-class cancer care, psychosocial support for the patients and family, and clinical research (which will lead the world closer to finding a cure for childhood cancer).
Thank you for supporting me as I take the plunge for children with cancer!
The video above shows me jumping in and swimming laps at last year’s Polar Dip. A Reny’s Department Store TV commercial was filmed at the event, so I sang the Reny’s jingle before taking the plunge. This will be my 14th year in a row doing the Polar Dip, and I have officialy surpassed the $50,000 mark for my overall fundraising for the Maine Children's Cancer Program from Polar Dip 2006 to today. Thank you for your support!!!
